In the indicatif présent the ending ons refers to all verbs except être (to be) which take the following form:

  • nous sommes

 

The ending ez refers to all verbs except être (to be) , faire  (to do or make)  dire (to say) and their compounds.

 

These verbs  use another stem (Stem 1) and ending with subject pronouns vous:

  • être: vous êtes

  • faire: vous faites

  • (re-)dire: vous dites
